Yesterday Loren and I arrived at the funeral home about 20 minutes before anyone else so we took that opportunity to have a private viewing. I thought it would be a good idea to get that initial look over with before the rest of the family and friends arrived. I am glad we did, it helped a lot.
Shirley looked so natural and very beautiful. Frazier's did a great job and we were very pleased. So many friends and family came and we were able to take photos with some of the aunts and uncles and cousins.
We hope to be able to come once a year, at least, to see the brothers and maybe some of the other relatives. We met Aunt Dorothy, the only living relative on Shirley's side. Shirley's only aunt, sister-in-love to Loren's grandma Minnie.
Many of the Ber's, Stanley's brother's and wives, niece's and nephew's came. Some of the old gang from when Loren was a boy living in Demotte came also. All things considered it was a good day. We were blessed by all the prayers and peace flowed over us in a tremendous way.
We were able to enjoy spending time with a couple of the brothers and their wives and our niece's later that evening. The women are going to take it upon themselves to keep the boys together. We need to do that much for Mama Shirley. She would want her boys to stay close.
Funeral is today. We are going to try to be at the funeral home early. Loren wrote a song called "When I get to Heaven" and they will play it at the funeral today. I want to get photos of the flowers and get prepared for the service. Lunch will be provided at Shirley's church and the interment will be close by. Many of the extended family will be back and also many of Shirley's friends as we say our final good-bye's to her.
We appreciate all of you and your love for us and for her. We are so blessed to have friends and family like you.
